Our normal Sunday School programming is intended for children between the ages of 5 and 12 (however there is flexibility if needed) and it is held during the regular worship service. We offer Sunday School from September through May each year. There is no Sunday School on Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month). We also have a staffed nursery for younger children.
Children begin each service in the worship space with their families. After a part of the worship service called "A Time for the Young at Heart," children are invited to go to Sunday School. If it is your first Sunday or your children are uncomfortable getting up, they can stay seated with the family throughout the service.
If you have any questions about Sunday School, you can reach the head of our Faith Formation Committee, Sandra at firstname.lastname@example.org or 440-543-5117.
Confirmation is a two-year program geared for youth aged 13-15; however, older youth seeking to be confirmed are also welcome. We had an exciting and engaged class of six young people confirmed in 2014. Our next class is beginning in September of 2015.
Confirmation classes at BCUCC include readings from the Bible and two other books on the topics of church and faith. There is also open discussion on a wide variety of current topics, participation in the mission and worship life of the church, a closing retreat, and one mission or educational trip. (This next group will have the opportunity to go to the United Church of Christ's National Youth Event in 2016 at Disney World.)
For more information about Confirmation at BCUCC or to sign your youth up for our next class, please contact Pastor Shaun at email@example.com or 440-543-5117.
We currently have an active youth group engaged in the social, worship, and mission life of BCUCC. The youth host a "Sweetheart Dinner" every February and lead our annual underwear drive for the Homeless Stand Down. Many of our young people also regularly lead worship services and provide music.
The Youth Group also comes together for fun outings (Chalk-walk, bowling, Cedar Point, &c.) and "lock ins." There is a lot this group is doing. We are currently reworking the structure for our regular meetings and will update the information once that is completed.
If you would like more information about the youth group activities, check out our church calendar or please contact Sandra at firstname.lastname@example.org or 440-543-5117.
We offer many opportunities for Adult Education. There is a weekly Bible Study/Prayer Group that meets at the church Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am. In addition there are Advent and Lenten book studies, healthy communication studies, larger discussions built around books or topics, and there is more to come.
Recently this community has been actively examining how we can more abundantly live our faith by welcoming all and celebrating the full diversity of God's creation by hosting discussions around "hot button" issues like economic disparity, sexuality, gender, race, disabling conditions, and communication across generations. To see what's coming up at the church next, please check out our church calendar.
